In this article, we'll cover the important aspects of managing your Applications in Talon.One. Once your integration is up and running, you'll need to create one or more Applications so you can start creating campaigns.
Depending on your business requirements, you can set up Applications that connect to a website, online shop, mobile app, or different country markets. You can also set up a sandbox Application for testing and a production Application for your live campaigns.
In this article we'll cover the following:
- Creating an Application
- Application Details
- Managing Applications
You can create as many applications as your contract allows and organize your campaigns within each, based on your specific business requirements.
From the main login page of your account, click + New Application.
Creating a new Application will usually only be done when you are first setting up your account, and a typical user will have two Applications, one for testing (Sandbox) and one for live campaigns.
When you add an Application, Talon. One automatically generates a unique API key that is required for your integration.
Every new application needs a few crucial details like the ones you can see below:
Name your Application with a clearly understandable format that everyone in your company will understand like "Company name" - "Type" - "Region"
Talon. One Live (EU) or perhaps Talon. One - Europe - Testing
Whatever you choose, just make sure it's clear for everyone.
Add a short and clear explanation of each Application to ensure all account users understand the purpose of each Application.
Choose the currency used in your shop system from the drop-down. Applications can only operate with a single currency, but you can create multiple Applications with different currencies.
This is the timezone your business operates in and this information is important for scheduling campaigns and using time attributes in your promotions.
Code Case Sensitivity
From the drop-down menu, choose if you would like to create and store coupon codes with case sensitivity or not. If you choose "Case Sensitivity", any code sent over API will be evaluated exactly as it is sent (e.g. A code FREEGIFT will only work with all capital letters).
If you select "Case Insensitive - Uppercase", every code will be stored in our database as uppercase, any code sent to us over API will be converted to uppercase and all codes will be generated in uppercase (even if you write it as a lower case, we will automatically convert the code to uppercase). The same applies to "Case Insensitive - Lowercase".
Now that you have filled in the required information, you can click Create Application. Congratulations! You have created your first Application.
This is the option for either a Live Application (the final promotions) or a Sandbox Application (your staging/testing environment).
*Note: API Keys
After creating your application, you should create an API Key.
An API Key is a unique ID we use to authenticate that the data we receive is definitely from you.
You create your API key after clicking on your Application, then Settings -> Developer Settings in the left-hand menu.
Find out more about creating an API key following this guide.
Once you have an application set up, you can edit it at any time by navigating to Your Application
Here you can change Details previously set when you created your campaign, with the exception of Case Sensitivity.
If you need to switch to "Case Insensitive" but have already created your Application, please get in touch and we'll let you know what's possible.
*Note: Any changes will apply to both Referral and Coupon codes.
In Developer Settings, you can see your application ID and API Key.
In Delete, you can permanently delete your Application. Deleting an Application also deletes the associated sessions.
*Important: You need admin access, and you have to type in the full name of your campaign and then click on the button that says "I Understand The Consequences, Delete This Application"
